Black Soapstone is quarried from a bedrock quarry in Brazil. Soapstone slabs are great for use as a countertop or around a fireplace. A hot pot can be placed directly on a soapstone countertop without concern of burning the surface. Since it is composed primarily of talc, the acids in foods used for everyday cooking will not etch or stain this stone. Soapstone can scratch; therefore, using a cutting board is required. Available in a variety of textures.
Recommended Uses for Black Soapstone:
Commercial & Residential
Natural stone is a product of nature and no two pieces look exactly alike. The sample you received five months ago may not represent the current batch. As a natural stone product, it is recommended that it be sealed to extend its longevity. Due to its density, soapstone is non-porous, naturally antibacterial, and stain resistant. For interior use we recommend protecting and enhancing the soapstone with a 100% natural product from either beeswax, mineral oil and/or Carnauba wax.
